The Box is covered with a thick layer of dust, life being life and all that. However, to my utter surprise, when I happened to glance into it recently, there turned out to be TWO new prompts! By Savour_the_Hunt.

1) Ritchie universe. Canon compliant up until the end of the first movie but ignores Irene Adler being a love interest for Holmes.

Mary might not have Holmes' superior intellect but it doesn't take her long to realise exactly why the man tried so hard to stop Watson from marrying her and that Watson returns his feelings, even if he is in denial about it, though he does genuinely love Mary as well. Mary confronts both men on their feelings for each other and proposes a three-way relationship but on the condition that they are all equal partners; it can't be a case of Mary-and-Watson and Watson-and-Holmes separately and if Holmes tries to ignore her or push her out, the arrangement ends immediately. Holmes isn't particularly interested in being romantic or intimate towards Mary but goes along with it so that he can be with Watson.

2) Ritchie universe. Mostly canon compliant except for the last scene of Game of Shadows.

Three years after Holmes' supposed death, Watson is visited by a man in disguise similar to the beginning of The Empty House but rather than Sherlock, it's his brother Mycroft. Mycroft explains that Holmes survived the Reichanbach Fall and that he had been in contact with his brother until about a year ago when his letters suddenly stopped. Mycroft knew that Moran was still attempting to track him and thought Holmes had been killed but evidence has recently come to his attention that has led him to believe that Moriarty also survived the fall and is holding Holmes hostage somewhere. His contacts have also revealed that a group of Moran's associates have been tracking Watson for several days and he believes that Moriarty intends to abduct Watson, too, in order to use him as leverage against Holmes. Mycroft's plan is to essentially allow the abduction to take place - with Watson's co-operation, of course - and track the kidnappers in the hopes that the trail will eventually lead to Moriarty himself and he will be able to rescue his brother. Watson obviously agrees to the plan and is horrified when he discovers what Moriarty is planning to do with Holmes. Moriarty's interest in Holmes has only increased since he was defeated by the man and he has decided to force the man into essentially the role of consort. He is aware that Holmes would never agree to this willingly, so he intends to weaponise Holmes' dependency on his friend and not-so-secret love interest by letting him know that Watson is also being held captive and that being allowed to see and interact with him is dependant on his behaviour. If he behaves, he will be allowed to share the same suite as Watson and even take him as a lover if he chooses but if he rebels, he will be separated from Watson for weeks, months or even years until he learns to submit.

I have several in-depth ideas for this prompt if anyone is interested since there isn't enough space to write it all out here.

It's a complete WOW and if by any chance someone gets inspired, it would be great!!

It's been quite a while since the Box was updated, and, frankly, I didn't have energy to keep it up, but there are still awesome prompts which stayed unfilled. Maybe they will inspire someone, so I'll copy them here:

1) Holmes realising that he is in love with Victor Trevor.

2) Watson and Mary keep trying to get Holmes and Hopkins to get together, unaware that they are already a couple.

3) Holmes has to attend a very boring party or social event and Watson spends the party distracting him so he doesn't get overwhelmed/bored/stuck in a terrible mood.

4) Holmes and Watson finally get together (your call if it's after months or decades) during/right before a big case. Holmes is so completely lovestruck he can't focus on anything else and Watson needs to cover for him.

5) A tailor makes matching suits for Holmes and Watson as a gratitude for a solved case. Would it be awkward for them to wear the suits at the same time? Or would they enjoy it?

6) Watson had a brother, once, and loose him to alcool. Maybe it explain his reaction to Holmes' addiction to cocaine...

7) In The Bruce Partington Plans, Watson writes:
"It was a relief to me when at last, after a light dinner, we set out upon our expedition. Lestrade and Mycroft met us by appointment at the outside of Gloucester Road Station. The area door of Oberstein's house had been left open the night before, and it was necessary for me, as Mycroft Holmes absolutely and indignantly declined to climb the railings, to pass in and open the hall door. By nine o'clock we were all seated in the study, waiting patently for our man."

I just find this really funny, what can I say? I would love fic or art about Mycroft continuing to occasionally team up with Holmes and Watson, with the three of them developing a friendly dynamic in which Mycroft can be relied on to absolutely and indignantly decline to do things (while of course coming through and helping when and how it counts the most). I welcome any tone from crack to more realistic humor to more emotional family feels :)

8) When Watson's brother died, he left behind a young daughter who eventually came into Watson's care.
How does Holmes and Watson's relationship, still in their early days both as roommates and colleagues (as well as friends), evolve and mutate with a child in the equation?

Could be friends to lovers, but I think established newfound relationship offers its own number of comedic possibilities.

9) Canon/granada
"Did I do remarkably badly?" " Yes!"
Watson make a big mistake and ruin a case. Holmes is furious. Watson try to fix it alone and put himself in danger...
+bonus if watson had a good reason to make his mistake in the first place

10) Holmes and Watson meet a "new" woman - by which I mean a liberated woman, working woman, actress, or suffragist.

The Prompt Box was supposed to have a Fill-Your-Claim month. I kept postponing it due to other projects and then RL, feeling that if I could not commit myself, it wouldn’t be fair to ask other participants. Life can intervene. So instead I filled one of the old prompts as I wanted to write something for [personal profile] luthienberen.

Title: The Talk
Fandom: Granada
Rating: G
Pairing: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson
Characters: Mycroft Holmes, John Watson
Word count: ~1.6 K
Summary: “Pardon me, Mr. Holmes, but surely you didn’t summon me just for the sake of a social call?”
“Then I shan’t beat about the bush, Dr. Watson,” I said. “What are your intentions with my brother?”

For a prompt:

I love both Watsons in this adaptation, but Burke is my favourite. A scene where Burke's!Watson has a conversation with Mycroft about his relationship with Holmes would be fabulous.

A new fill in the prompt box!

Title: Our Lazaretto
Author: GreyNarcissus
Fandom: Granada, ACD
Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Rating: T
Word count: ~3,200
Summary: Influenza has torn through a quantity of London streets and trapped Holmes and Watson within the walls of 221b. Holmes has been increasingly agitated and it's down to Watson to figure out what is plaguing his beloved.

For a prompt

Victorian Quarantine: What would it look like? What is it for? How would Watson keep Holmes occupied?

It's the first time the author writes Holmes and Watson. Could you give them your support?

Edit: Now there is a companion piece, E-rated. Adulation (~3,500 words)

There is a new anonymous prompt I overlooked:

Holmes has to attend a very boring party or social event and Watson spends the party distracting him so he doesn't get overwhelmed/bored/stuck in a terrible mood.

And there’s a new fabulous fill by [personal profile] stonepicnicking_okapi! I borrowed the header from the author herself:

It’s been rather quiet lately, and I thought to return to the prompt box maybe in a few weeks or so, but suddenly I have a prompt.

Sherlock’s first exposure to violin as a toddler. He listens someone play in complete awe (mb a friend of the  family or a relative). He can barely walk, and he trots on his unsteady feet to the player and hugs their leg.

Bonus point: if Mycroft tells this story to John in Sherlock’s presence.

A new fill in the Victorian Holmes Prompt Box! For the following prompt by Kaisea:

Any universe you please. A stake out during the winter. Holmes is the one to suggest snuggling into each other's coats for warmth, despite Watson's Victorian objections. 'You're a medical man! Surely you can see the sense, my dear fellow.' Can turn explicit but can also just be pure fluff. Established relationship or pre-relationship, there's a lot of wiggle room.

Title: The adventure of the very cold room
Author: Jay_the_bird
Fandom: ACD
Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Word count: 689
Rating: Not rated (but actually G)
Summary: for a prompt

A new awesome fill! For my prompt, omg

TitleA Change in Fate
Author: FleetSparrow
Fandom: Anthony Horowitz - Moriarty
Rating: G
Word count: 781
SummaryIn which Moriarty reveals himself, but Athelney Jones still survives.

If you read the Moriarty novel and wished for an alternate ending where Holmes and Watson show up just in time to save Athelney Jones, that’s the fic for you!

Everyone who reads the fill, could you support the author with kudos and comments? The fandom of the book is rather small, and there’s no pairing, so this story had the one and only hit—mine—over the several hours it has been posted.

Watson is totally badass there.

Quite accidentally I noticed a pattern:

Here's a prompt for the Victorian Holmes Prompt Box inspired by this:

A tailor makes matching suits for Holmes and Watson as a gratitude for a solved case. Would it be awkward for them to wear the suits at the same time? Or would they enjoy it?

A new fill has been added! And I’m sooo excited about it! In response to the prompt about why Holmes stayed at Baker Street after becoming rich, The_Game_is_Afoot wrote a fic in French! Hey all French-speaking johnlockers out there, I’m so envious of you. I read it with the help of google and I loved it. There’s a misunderstanding, Holmes being vulnerable and thinking that Watson wants to leave, Watson being the man of action that he is and literally carrying Holmes back home from an opium den, then an argument, a passionate confession and kissing. Pure johnlock goodness.

L'affaire du trop riche locataire (The affair of the overly rich tenant), ~3,000 words

The number of universes is already quite diverse: ACD, A Study in Emerald, Moriarty, Ritchie, Granada, Lenfilm as well as The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes.

There are:

17 prompts;
11 participants;
2 fills - Quid pro Quo (Ritchie, T, ~1600 words) and Such a Strange Day (TPLOSH, T, ~1300 words).

Five wonderful prompts were added just recently:

-One about Watson getting into trouble trying to solve a case on his own after Holmes scolds the doctor for “doing badly” while assisting him;

-One for a kidfic where it turns out that Watson’s deceased brother has a young daughter who needs to be taken care of;

-One about exploring why Holmes stayed in his modest rooms at Baker Street even after he became rich. What were the reasons? Emotional attachment? Habit? Convenience?

-One about Mycroft on occasions he collaborates with Sherlock and John while they do leg work, and “indignantly refusing to climb the railings” (BRUC) or such sort of thing;

-And one about exploring Watson’s vehement opposing to Holmes’s cocaine use.

This is a short gist of the prompts. Check them out on AO3! Add yours or pick the existing ones to fill :)

Please help this challenge to take off!

Title: Such a Strange Day
Fandom: The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes
Pairing: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson
Word Count: ~1300
Rating: T
Warning: Mentions of drug abuse
Summary: Watson is astonished when he finds out that he is indeed Holmes’s “glass of tea”. He is astonished even more when he realises that his own “glass of tea” is Holmes.

I really should be writing my Star Trek WIP, but [personal profile] luthienberen posted two new prompts in the Victorian Holmes Prompt Box, one of which was TPLOSH. Curiosity finally made me watch the movie. It turned out not to be as sad as I had expected. Holmes’s feelings were not at all unrequited as Watson was jealous as hell when a beautiful lady posed as Holmes’s wife. So I filled the prompt with a fix-it while inspiration was there :)

There was a prompt a couple of days ago which gave me the kind of a lightbulb moment the Prompt Box had been set up for. The prompt was:

Ritchie!verse: Watson gambles their rent away for the very first time and he needs to tell Holmes about it. Holmes is surprisingly forgiving...

So I went ahead and filled it. Just had to, although I’m currently in the midst of a Star Trek WIP.

Victorian Holmes Prompt Box is up and running!

This is an all-year-round prompt challenge for all Holmes universes set in the late 19th - early 20th century (ACD Canon, Granada, A Study In Emerald, etc.), from Holmes before Watson and their early years to WWI and retirement. You can post prompts or pick some to fill. Deadlines are optional: you can set them for your prompts or leave them open-ended. This is a no pressure challenge, so you can fill prompts at your own pace (if the deadline is not specified by the prompt poster). There is a prompt filling month twice a year, though, when everyone is encouraged to fill the prompts they’ve picked over the previous months (see announcements later). Any ratings, from Gen to Explicit. No word count restrictions. Artists and vidders are very welcome to join!

To post a prompt: log in to AO3 and hit the "sign up" button. To post prompts anonymously tick the "semi-anonymous" box when entering your prompt.

To view all prompts: go to the collection menu and choose "prompts".

I added three prompts so far. One for Anthony Horowitz's Moriarty plus one for Neil Gaiman's A Study in Emerald (like, I have some questions after reading both. I don't think I'm going to write in those 'verses, but if somebody did, I'd be happy!) and one ACD (I'd love to write a story about it but I have zero headcanons). Absolutely anyone can add prompts! Even if you don't intend to fill any :) Who knows, maybe your prompt will inspire someone!
