I'm a great fan of FutureLearn, which is an free online series of courses from some of the major universities. I've just seen they're running a course which last for three weeks starting 2 September, called The Living Picture Craze: An Introduction to Victorian Film. It's being run by the BFI (British Film Institute) and is designed for anyone with a passion for film and Victorian and British history. It will be looking at the beginnings of the film industry from 1895 to 1901.
It looks like it should be interesting, since they will be using some of the BFI's collection of Victorian films, so I have joined the course.
